ANTONITO — Antonito resident Alan A. Salazar, 60, passed away January 20, 2013 at the Conejos County Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Alan was born on March 1, 1952 in Antonito, Colorado the son of Buster Burt and Dora Salazar. Alan was a wonderful son, brother and uncle who enjoyed drawing, collecting coins, listening to music, he was an avid wrestling fan, a San Francisco 49ers fan, he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters Alice Marie Candy of Antonito, CO; Hope (Alonzo) Madril of Cañon City, CO; sister-in-law Johanne Salazar of Antonito, CO; brothers Ernie (Naomi) Salazar of Alamosa, CO; Joe (Brenda) Salazar of Pueblo, CO; Tommy (Sally) Burt of Big Springs, TX; niece Vera (Armando) Dominguez of Wheat Ridge, CO; nephew Dwayne (Marcia) Candy of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Jesusita and Victoriano Salazar, brothers Carlos, Victor, Rudy and Onesimo “Shorty” Salazar, nephew Gilbert “Gibo” Salazar, sisters Lorraine Rodriguez, Edna and Gloria Salazar.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
