I am writing this letter in regards to the proposal of a liquor store and parlor in our little country town of Mosca. The first time I knew anything about it was the day Mosca hit the front page of the Valley Courier.
There are many reasons I am against such an establishment in our town or in any town. I see what liquor and drugs have done to our society every day. That is why I do not promote it in any form or fashion.
The article in the Courier stated that 30 out of 33 people contacted to sign a petition for the establishment were in favor of it. That is not a fair poll because they only contacted a few and it was not door to door. There are a lot more than 33 people in the Mosca town and surrounding community.
Anyway I donít see how this type of business would be a benefit to an area that is only a few miles from Alamosa or Monte Vista. I certainly am not for a liquor establishment to be located a few doors down from my house and less than two miles from our school.
