ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Rolland James Fleming, 60, passed away January 15, 2013. Rolland was born on June 18, 1952 in Springer, New Mexico the son of Rolland Lee Fleming Sr., and Winona Gertrude Porterfield Fleming. Rolland was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Martinez on April 7, 1990. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard. Rolland was a wonderful husband, father and brother who was an avid hunter and sportsman, a dog lover and all around craftsman, he enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping and the time he spent with his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen Fleming of Alamosa, CO; daughters Maria Fleming (Ronald Singer) and Micaela Fleming both of Alamosa, CO; son Christopher (Michelle) Fleming of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Dalena (Charles) Bada, Julie (Calvin) Kelley both of Raton, NM; Rhonda Baca of Albuquerque, NM; brother Marvin (Angela) Fleming of Raton, NM. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rolland was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Delbert Fleming.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with full military honors. Cremation will follow. Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
