GREELEY, Colorado — Former San Acacio resident Maria Lillian Valdez, 51, passed away January 6, 2013, in Greeley, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. Lillian was born October 6, 1961, in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Frank B. Valdez and Mary Olivas Valdez. Lillian was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed dancing, joking with the family, playing cards, riding horses, playing with her grandchildren and the time she spent with her family.
Survivors include her parents Frank B. Valdez of Pueblo, CO; Mary A. Valdez of San Luis, CO; daughter Kaylene Valdez of Greeley, CO ; son Joshua Valdez of Greeley, CO; grandchildren Serenity Lopez, Angel Valdez and Abrianna Lopez of Greeley, CO; sisters Frances (John) Santisteven of San Acacio, CO; Dorothy Valdez (Jim Mathis) of Canon City, CO; Evelyn (Robert) Martinez of Aurora, CO; Juanita Valdez of Denver, CO; Sarah Valdez of Alamosa, CO; Carlos (Ruby) Valdez of Arvada, CO; Robert Valdez of San Acacio, CO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .Lillian was preceded in death by her twin sister Vivian Valdez on December 3, 2009 and one other sister Loretta Valdez in 1953.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 7:00 PM at the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 11:00 AM also at Sangre de Cristo. Interment will follow at the San Acacio Cemetery in San Acacio. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
