Ford soaring at Air Force

USAFA—Senior Brian Ford record the second-best weight throw mark in Academy histury during a winning performance at the Air Force Holiday Open earlier this month. Ford unloaded a career-best distance of 61 feet 1/4 inches on his final throw of the day to easily win the event title. The nearest competitor was nearly two feet back.

With the throw, Ford moved up the national rankings to 15th place. In addition to becoming just the fifth Air Force athlete to break the 60-foot plateau in the weight throw- and only the second to better the 61-foot mark- Ford broke the program's Senior Class Record by one foot, displacing a mark that stood since 1992.
