ALAMOSA — A two-vehicle crash near Colorado 285 and Alamosa County Road 10 South sent six people to the hospital, half with serious injuries, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Colorado State Patrol press release, Ames Sisneros, 32, Antonito, was driving northbound on Highway 285 at a high rate of speed in a 2002 Cadillac SUV. He lost control of the vehicle and it collided into the rear end of a 1996 Dodge pickup driven by Brandon Vannoy, 32, La Jara. The Dodge then spun out of control and off the west side of the road where it came to rest on its wheels. The Cadillac went off the east side of the road where it rolled, coming to rest on its top.
There were five occupants, including Sisneros, in the Cadillac, according to the press release. Sisneros was transported on a flight for life to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver and the other five people involved in the wreck were treated at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. In addition to Vannoy, Ester Trujillo, 31, Antonito; Phil Lucero, 41, Antonito; Darryl Poole, 22, Antonito; and Adam Jiron, 24, Antontio received medical treatment in Alamosa for various injuries.
Drugs and/or alcohol are believed to have been a factor on the part of Sisneros and passengers, according to the press release. The investigation is continuing with charges pending. Seatbelts were not in use in the Cadillac, but were in use in the Dodge.
