MOFFAT — Two local residents were transported out of the Valley for medical treatment following a one-vehicle rollover crash near Moffat shortly before 7 a.m. yesterday morning.
The Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash on Colorado Highway 17 south of Moffat in Saguache County just before 7 a.m. on December 3.
A Dodge Durango driven by Kevin McColm, 21, from Alamosa was traveling southbound on Colorado 17. The Dodge Durango traveled off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, came back onto the roadway, then traveled back off the left side where it rolled two times, coming to rest on its wheels.
There were five occupants in the Durango including the driver, according to the State Patrol report.
The front seat passenger identified as Cody Ward, 21, was ejected during the accident and transported to the Alamosa Regional Medical Center for his injuries. The driver along with three additional passengers identified as Michael McColm, 44, from Monte Vista, Marie Medina, 33, from Monte Vista, and Kelsey McColm, 18, from Monte Vista were also transported to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center for their injuries.
Michael McColm was later flown flight for life to St. Anthony’s in Denver. Cody Ward was transported to a St. Mary Corwin in Pueblo hospital via ground ambulance.
None of the passengers in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
Kevin McColm was cited with four counts of careless driving resulting in bodily injury.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
