CENTER — Center resident Betty Jean Cowan, 71, passed away November 24, 2012, at the Parkview Hospital in Pueblo.
Betty was born March 7, 1941, in Juan Thomas, New Mexico, the daughter of Charles Dallas Cowan and Ruby Mae Deskin Cowan. Betty was a retired cook and a former member of the VFW. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, reading and working puzzles.
Her survivors include the people who loved her and took care of her, Marie Virginia Luna, Donna (Hugo) Perez, Donna Weimer, Frankie Vargas and Margaret Inness and family all of Center, Colorado.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ruby Cowan and her grandparents.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Jerome Catholic Church in Center. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. also at St. Francis Jerome Church. Interment will follow at the Del Norte Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
