ANTONITO—Antonito resident Alfonso Roberto Sandoval, 66, died November 8, 2012 at his home in Antonito.
Alfonso was born May 1, 1946 in Ortiz, Colorado the son of John and Stella Duran Sandoval. His parents preceded him in death.
Alfonso was an Old Time Cowboy with more than 30 years experience in Team Roping. He rode for all the associations in the valley and was well known in the Roping and Ranching Communities. He loved the mountains and being a cowboy.
Alfonso is survived by his daughter Jacque Sandoval (Matt Hamilton) of Alamosa; the mother of his children: Glenda Gallegos; his stepchildren Jonathan Quintana (Renee), Sara Quintana (Bobby), his three grandchildren: Julianna, Kiara, and Gabriella, all from Antonito; as well as four brothers, two sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Cremation was chosen and a Recitation of the Rosary service will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Jacque Sandoval and may be made at the San Luis Valley Federal Bank in his memory.
