ALAMOSA—Longtime Alamosa resident Lee Gallegos, Sr., 92, died October 18, 2012 at his home in Alamosa under hospice care.
Lee was born to Narciso and Genevieve Gallegos on July 24, 1920 in Monte Vista. He married Sophie Espinoza in Colorado Springs on August 7, 1943 sharing a life together for over 69 years.
Lee was active in the Monte Vista Spanish congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved sharing the bible with others who looked forward to living in a new world under God’s kingdom. Lee was a very kind, humble and generous person. Lee enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed the time spent with his family. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He worked as a carpenter and painter for much of his life.
He is survived by his wife Sophie Gallegos of the family home in Alamosa; his children Lee (Lorraine) Gallegos and Paul Gallegos, both of Alamosa; his grandchildren Corrina (Phil) Fisher of Salida, Jessica Atencio of Colorado Springs, Benjamin (Carlina) Gallegos of Monument, Nathan Gallegos of Alamosa, Danny (Tammy) Gallegos of Monte Vista, and Diana (Jason) Dorn of Tennessee; his great-grandchildren: Ashley Atencio, Matthew and Olivia Fisher, Andrew and Jacob Atencio, Aspen Gallegos, Daniel Dorn, Ethan, Seth, Lauren and Renee Gallegos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
His parents, five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Alamosa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Alamosa.
