MONTE VISTA — Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming production of “Hello Dolly,” which is being presented by the Monte Vista High School Drama Club and Rocky Mountain Stage Productions.
The show, which will be staged at Bill Metz Central Auditorium and will be Friday November 16, Saturday, November 17 with show time at 7:15 p.m. Sunday November 18 is a matinee and will be presented at 2:15 p.m. This show is a combined performance of local school students and community members.
Tickets for the performance are $7 for adults, and $3 for students and seniors 65 and older.
The production is being co-directed by Monte Vista High School Drama Club sponsor Tami Fassett who has been directing local high school productions for the past 18 years. She has presented several drama, comedy and Shakespeare shows as well as presenting several Broadway reviews.
Assisting Fassett in this year’s production is veteran director Charlotte Crites who has directed community theatre productions for the past 30 years for Rocky Mountain Stage Productions.
The company started in Monte Vista 33 years ago under the direction of the late Richard Talley from Alamosa as well as local community members Margaret Rominger and Suzanne Gosar. According to Crites their first full scale musical production, Camelot, was held at Central Auditorium so Crites said she felt it was only fitting that the last big musical production she will direct is held in the same building.
Fassett says that this is her last big production that she will direct; however both she and Crites are going to continue to work on their small venue shows. Fassett will direct high school students to present more drama, comedy and Shakespeare shows. The drama club has acquired Central Auditorium as their new performance venue and will turn it into a fine performing arts center for theatre as well as concerts and in the future outside performances coming to Monte Vista.
Crites will continue to present musical cabarets with theatre company putting together specialized shows and singing for various organizations and putting together fund raisers to help the community.
Come and enjoy a fun filled performance as Dolly Levi weaves her magic spell as a modern day, turn of the century match maker. Enjoy such music as Before the Parade Passes By, Dancing, It Only Takes A Woman, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, It Takes A Woman, and more.
Tickets can be purchased at the door the days of the performance and can be reserved by calling Fassett at 852-3385 or Crites at 852-5337.
