ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Leroy G. Medina Sr., 73, passed away October 5, 2012 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Leroy was born to Isabelle and Juan Medina on September 7, 1939, in Capulin, Colorado. He was married to the late Frances M. Medina for 52 years, who he absolutely loved with all his heart. Leroy was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather who was a dedicated 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member on May 23, 2004. He was a dedicated Knights of Columbus member for 18 years. He was also very involved with the Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his sister and two brothers Elvinia (Joe) Medina of Sanford, Colo.; Alex (Janice) Medina of Alamosa, Colo.; William Medina of Thornton, Colorado; his two sons Leroy (Linda) Medina Jr. and David Medina both of Alamosa, Colo., his grandchildren Kristi (Alfred) Sanchez of Fort Garland, Colo.; Ashley Medina (Sean Prowdley) of Alamosa, Colo.; Anthony Medina of Blanca, Colo.; Fabian (Sarah) Lobato of Antonito, Colo.; great grandchildren Joshua “Bubba” Medina of Fort Garland, Jayden “Lil Buddy” and Taya “Lil Princess” Maez of Alamosa, Colo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Frances M. Medina.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa. Private Interment will follow at a later date.
Viewing and Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. at Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
