SANFORD — Sanford resident Carlos N. Garcia, 87, passed away October 4, 2012 at the Rio Grande Inn Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Carlos was born on May 14, 1925 in Conejos, Colorado the son of Jose Garcia and Carmelita Archuleta Garcia. Carlos was a wonderful father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, hauling wood, and eating green chili and sweets.
Survivors include his daughters Ven (Amador) Favila of El Cenrto, Calif.; Sandra Castaneda, Linda Garcia and Marcella (Gene) LeBlanc all of Center, Colo.; one son Joe (Judy) Garcia of Sanford, Colo.; several grandchildren, step-children Karla (Augie) Duran of Center, Colo.; Maxine Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Timmy (Cheryl) Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Carmelita, three brothers Joe, Tony and Pete Garcia and one sister Chon.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady of the Valley Church. Interment will follow at the Sanford Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
