The 9th Annual Walk/Run for the Stephanie L. Miner Women’s Imaging Center at SLV Regional Medical Center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6, in Cole Park. Mary Motz (Stephanie’s mother) and SLVRMC Foundation Director Kelly Gurule are folding and sorting hundreds of pink camouflaged shirts imprinted with military boot tracks and the words “Marching On!” Mary said that helping with the event is a way for her to honor her twin daughters. Natalie Streeter, who died suddenly in 2009, originally proposed the idea of holding the walk a year after her sister Stephanie’s passing from breast cancer in 2003. For more information about signing up, contact Kelly Gurule at 587-5707. Shirts, while they last, are available as part of the $30 registration fee in the Foundation Office at 1921 Main St. and Vee’s Gift Shoppe at SLVRMC on 106 Blanca Ave., and for $35 in Cole Park the morning of Oct. 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the race to begin at 10 a.m.
