ALAMOSA— Well, the 2010 Little League 10-12 baseball tournament came to an end this past weekend as Center was crowned the team champions.

They won a very narrow and exciting semifinal game over Alamosa’s team coached by Peter DeLaCerda before running away with the championship over Sargent.

Sargent beat Monte Vista to participate in the championship game.

The semi final games were played first and in the Center and Alamosa game, it appeared as if the biggest upset was set to happen as a pitchers duel took place through the first couple of innings.

Alamosa’s Isiah DeLaCerda helped keep the team that averaged more then 10 runs a game scoreless through the first three innings before giving up a run on a questionable play in the fourth inning.

DeLaCerda was able to rebound and close the door before.

In the sixth inning Alamosa rallied and came from behind to score four runs before taking the field for the last time as they led 4-1.

DeLaCerda was then substituted for at the pitchers position because he was not allowed to pitch more than five innings.

This proved to be costly as Center scored four straight runs to claim the 5-4 victory and move on into the championship game.

Sargent and Monte Vista game wasn’t as close as the two teams scored a run in the first inning before Sargent broke out with eight runs in the second inning.

They were then able to hang on for the 13-6 win.

In the championship game Center jumped out to an early as they scored 11 of their 18 runs in the first two innings.

They then let Sargent creep back in before they put the final six runs on the board in the final two innings.
