Day to represent West Region
SAN FRANCISCO- Adams State College Sports Information Director Chris Day has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Board of Directors at the annual CoSIDA Convention that took place in San Francisco on July 4-7.
Day, who has been the SID at Adams State College since August of 1999, will serve a 3-year term for the College Division of CoSIDA and will represent the West Region. The goal of his appointment is to represent the institutions and members in the West Region and to provide leadership for the organization and its members.
"I am honored to be selected," said Day. "It's an exciting time for the business as it continues to grow and develop with new communication techniques."
Day, a 3-time winner of the J.W. Campbell/Con Marshall Award which is given to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference SID of the year, is coming off a busy year as he served as the meet director for both the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., the first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship that the Grizzlies have ever hosted, and the NCAA Division II Super Regional Four/Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships.
Day came to ASC from fellow RMAC Institution Mesa State College where he served as the Mavericks' Assistant SID while pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications.
Day graduated in May of 1999 with a double concentration in public relations and news/editorial while minoring in mathematics.
He has since completed all coursework towards a master's degree in health and physical education with an emphasis in sports administration at ASC.
This honor adds to Day's already-busy schedule as he is also an associate athletic director for the Grizzlies and recently celebrated the birth of Noah Kai, his first child with his wife, Beth.
