Arlene A. Etter, 74
DELTA — Arlene A. Etter, 74, passed away at Swedish Hospital in Denver, Colo. on Nov. 5, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 8, 1934 in San Acacio, Colo. the daughter of Orville Henry and Ebba M. Buhr.
Arlene graduated from Mesita High School then stayed home for a couple of years to help her parent’s on the farm. She then became a nurse’s aid at the Alamosa hospital under her marriage to Laurence Etter of Alamosa on Jan. 12, 1954. After living in several places in Colorado the Etter’s made their home in Delta, Colo.
Arlene enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, bingo and a good game of cards. She was a very good cook and loved her flowers and always enjoyed a good joke and was ready with one of her own. Family and friends will remember her most for her love for her family, always carrying her large photo album with her.
Arlene is survived by her husband Laurence of Delta; brother John M. (Elsie) Buhr of Alamosa; sisters in law Nadine Buhr of Utah and Ordean Buhr of Alamosa; children Evelyn (Tom) Monckton of Denver, Greg Etter of Grand Junction, Fred Etter of Avon; Doran (Kimberly) Etter of Austin, Colo. and Laurie (Norman) Stahly of Eckert, Colo. as well as by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Laverne, Edward and Francis Buhr and sisters Norma Jean and Mildred Kersteins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Delta on Nov. 11, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
