January menus for San Luis Valley Senior centers

SAN LUIS VALLEY — Following are the January menus for the senior centers throughout the San Luis Valley. Reservations are required. Call South Central Colorado Seniors at 589-4511 or sign up at the individual meal sites. All meals are served with 1-percent milk, no trans fat and no salt margarine. Margarine is served with bread products. Menus are subject to change. Meal sites are closed on Fridays.

Wednesday, January 1 — Closed for New Year’s.

Thursday, January 2 — Frito pie, lettuce, tomato, cheese, broccoli, whole wheat crackers, fruit cocktail, Jell-O.

Monday, January 6 — Ham and beans, tossed salad with dressing, apricot pineapple compote, cornbread, honey.

Tuesday, January 7 — Combination burrito, green chili, lettuce, tomato, salsa, Spanish rice, carrifruit salad.

Wednesday, January 8 — Chicken cordon bleu, brown rice, seasoned asparagus, mandarin oranges, whole wheat crackers.

Thursday, January 9 — Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, Brussels sprouts, apricots, whole wheat roll.

Monday, January 13 — Sloppy Joe, whole wheat bun, sun chips, creamy coleslaw, Brussels sprouts, mixed fruit.

Tuesday, January 14 — Pueblo beef stew, tossed salad with dressing, sliced yellow squash, cornbread/honey, banana in pudding.

Wednesday, January 15 — Pot roast with gravy, mashed potatoes, lemon herbed broccoli, apple crisp, whole wheat roll.

Thursday, January 16— Crunchy fish with lemon tartar sauce, mixed vegetables, pineapple mandarin orange compote, whole wheat bread.

Monday, January 20 — Closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Tuesday, January 21 — Spaghetti and meatballs, herbed green beans, salad/dressing, garlic bread, strawberry/applesauce.

Wednesday, January 22 — Cheeseburger on bun with everything, sun chips, baked beans, pineapple tidbits, yellow cake/frosting.

Thursday, January 23 — Chicken fried steak, country gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli, plums, whole wheat roll.

Monday, January 27 — Vegetable soup, half turkey/roast beef with lettuce sandwich, half orange, whole wheat crackers.

Tuesday, January 28 — Macaroni and cheese, salad with dressing and sunflower seeds, 5-way vegetables, apple/pears, whole wheat crackers.

Wednesday, January 29 — Baked pork chops with buttered apples, broccoli/cauliflower, whole wheat bread, peanut butter cookie, fruit cocktail.

Thursday, January 30 — Lemon baked fish with tartar sauce, carrot coins, creamy coleslaw, mandarin oranges, whole wheat bread.
