SAGUACHE — Come join the talented band Sidewinder for their first ever performance at The Ute in Saguache. Enjoy old time Western Music, with a little mix of Blues, and a handful of Americana songs.
The concert is Saturday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. Cost is $10.

MIKE BRILL-Guitar, Vocals: Played piano in elementary school. His dad played guitar, and he played backup with his dad when he was in junior high. His band played at dances in high school. Mike earned a music degree from the University of North Texas in 1975. He taught music in Dallas for 20 years and played in bands in from NY to LA and came to Saguache in 1989. Mike plays guitar, banjo, pedal steel, and Dobro. Has a CD out called Valley in the Sky of instrumental finger style guitar. Mike comes from a long line of musicians, and has a fine collection of instruments.
ED JOHNSON- Guitar, Vocals: Playing guitar for 38 years Ed spent summers here in Saguache at his grandparents’ house until age 14. He saw the movie A Hard Day’s Night at The Ute Theatre when he was 9 years old in the fall of 1964 and decided right then he wanted to play a guitar. Ed got a Silvertone Acoustic Guitar back then, and has since moved up to seven electric and three acoustic guitars. He played in his first band when he was 11 years old, and had his first paying gig at 15. He had for a 10 year run with the band Timberidge in Colorado Springs. He enjoys playing all types of music and the interactions of the ensembles of the musicians.
CHRISTINE GYDESEN- Vocals: Christine began singing just a few years ago when The San Luis Valley Theatre Co. needed someone to sing Frosty The Snowman! Since then she performed with Pianist Dale Enquist at The Salida Steamplant and performed the Jazz song It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie. She has since performed with Jim Boaz as a duo named Stone Soup. Christine has also performed and sang in the Musical Guys & Dolls, as Adelaide, that was performed live, on stage at The Historic Ute Theatre in Saguache. Christine also plays acoustic guitar, is a new songwriter and truly enjoys singing.
Stop in Saguache early in the day for The Art Festival at 10 a.m. and complete the day with The Sidewinder performance at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 970-596-4521.
