Sisters to compete in pageants

ANTONITO —Mia Garcia, 11, of Antonito, has been selected to represent the San Luis Valley at the 2013 Miss American Preteen Pageant. She and other girls from Colorado qualified to compete for the title of Miss American Preteen by placing in queen’s court at the annual state pageant.

Mia also won talent, modeling and volunteer service awards for her division.

As the San Luis Valley Colorado Preteen, Mia will be attending the National Pageant for her age group in Florida and Disney World during the week of Thanksgiving. She will compete for the National Pageant Title of Miss American Preteen. Thousands of dollars in cash awards, prizes and scholarships are given every year.

Mia’s younger sister Amaya Garcia, 7, has been selected to represent Colorado at the 2013 Miss American Sweetheart Pageant. Amaya also won modeling and academic achievement for her age division.

As the Colorado Sweetheart, Amaya will be attending the National Pageant for her age group in Florida and Disney World during the week of Thanksgiving 2013. She will compete for the National Pageant title of Miss American Sweetheart and thousands of dollars in cash awards, prizes and scholarships.

American Coed Pageants recognize and reward outstanding young women for their accomplishments and encourage them to set and achieve high goals for themselves.
