ALAMOSA — Rep. Scott Tipton (R-CO) will announce the winner of this year’s Third Congressional District Art Competition this Monday in Alamosa.
High school students from across the district have submitted original works of art showcasing their artistic talents to the community and competing for the opportunity to have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol complex alongside pieces from students from every congressional district in the nation.
Artwork submitted by students from across the 3rd District is on display at Hatfield Gallery on the Adams State University Campus, 208 Edgemont Boulevard. Congressman Tipton will announce the winner of the competition at a reception this Monday, April 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Hatfield Gallery. This event is open to the public.
“The students who have submitted their works of art have made their families, schools and communities proud,” said Tipton. “I am always in awe of the talent and ability of these students and I look forward to announcing the winner of the competition whose work will be displayed proudly in the U.S. Capitol.”
All entrants will receive a certificate of participation signed by Congressman Scott Tipton. The first, second and third places will receive awards, and there will be honorable mentions. The first place winner of the competition and one family member win a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the National Exhibit and Reception in June, and their artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol.
