Cranes on cue

Nothing in this world is certain except for death and taxes — and the annual migration of greater sandhill cranes into the San Luis Valley. The cranes, along with an interloping group of Canada geese, far outnumbered birdwatchers, nature lovers and others who gathered Friday at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge for the first day of the 30th Annual Monte Vista Crane Festival.
