Burr-fect day for an ice fest

When he isn’t working as an executive chef or teaching others how to cook, Robert Meitzer can be found at events like last weekend’s Alamosa Ice Fest, where he painstakingly worked on the ice sculptures along Main Street. Meitzer is the co-owner of Denver-based Aesthetic Ice.



Temperatures in downtown Alamosa hovered at about 15 below zero on Saturday morning, as a grimacing and ice-covered Winter returned to Main Street for this year’s Alamosa Ice Fest. That’s ice sculptor extraordinaire and Aesthetic Ice owner Craig Winter, who transformed simple blocks of ice into works of art, like this "mean moose" mascot. Mascot Madness was this year's ice festival theme.
