Homelake participates in national wreath day

Posted: Friday, Nov 9th, 2012

HOMELAKE — The Homelake Cemetery participates once again in the Wreaths Across America Day to honor and remember our veterans who have served this country.

This year’s ceremony will be held at the Homelake Cemetery at 3749 Sherman Avenue, Monte Vista on December the 8th to coincide with the Wreaths Across America Day official ceremony.

This nonprofit organization was started as an extension of the Arlington National Cemetery laying of wreaths project begun by Morrill Worchester. Congress named the wreath laying day to be held annually every second Saturday in December as The Wreaths Across America Day due to such a high demand from all the VA and State Cemeteries.

Those who are interested in purchasing a wreath please contact Carol Martinez at 719-849-1830. Deadline for ordering and paying $15 per wreath is November 20th, and the wreaths may be placed at the Homelake Cemetery or at any private cemetery of the buyer’s choice.

Wreaths Across America Day Would not be successful without the help of volunteers, many active organizations and the generosity of the trucking industries.

Thanks to all military and their families for their services and sacrifices.
