Bill and Bertha Plane

MONTE VISTA — All because two people fell in love! Harold (Bill) and Bertha Plane of Monte Vista will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday November 3, 2012 with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Monte Vista Elks Club followed by a dance which is open to the public for a $5 admission fee. Music will be provided by local musicians of the Gunbarrel Junction Band.

Bill, as he is known by most, and Bertha were joined in holy matrimony on October 30th 1952. Together they have seven children, Darrel (Sue) Plane, Becky (Jim) Gerlock, Sandy (Lee) Jackson, Randy (Debbie) Plane, Herman (Nancy) Plane, Dixie (Ed) Diltz, and Darla (Paul Bradley) Malouff.

Bill and Bertha model what a loving relationship should be by trusting in God and through living their lives with true morals, values, principles and ethics. Both Bill and Bertha have opened their hearts and home to so many over the years.

Many may know Bill and Bertha from when they owned and operated a local meat processing plant in Del Norte, others may know them from their devotion to the St Joseph’s Parish Catholic Church or from the many years they each devoted to their careers: Bill as foreman for Monte Vista Potato Growers, and Bertha as head cook at the Monte Vista Schools.

The Planes of this family have enjoyed and valued times spent dancing. Keeping that in mind, it only seems fitting that the Gunbarrel Junction Band has and will play an instrumental part in their lives and at their celebration. The band often dedicates the song “Silver Wings” to the Plane family at many of their venues.

Led by their faith and love Bill and Bertha have been blessed with 7 children and their spouses, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of which would like to invite those who wish to share in their celebration to join us on November 3rd for the reception and/or dance.
