The sister of Alamosa’s locomotive No. 169 is in the news. The Denver and Rio Grande’s steam engine No. 168 will be moved to Antonito, where it will be restored prior to being put into service on the 64-mile line between Antonito and Chama, New Mexico.
Since last year, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad’s commission has been considering a proposal to change the designation of No. 168 to the C&TSRR for relocation, rehabilitation, and operation. On March 10 of this year Colorado Springs’ city council agreed to lease the locomotive to the C&TSRR. For the complete article see the 04-07-2015 issue.
