The Valley is more than just a pretty face.
When I drive around the San Luis Valley, I feel gratitude for our open lands and the land owners, organizations, government agencies, and their supporters that have worked to conserve them. After users have been altering its landscape, land, and water for about a century and a half, itís almost a miracle to still see so much of its original natural beauty still remaining, but much has been lost, as well.
Land trusts are playing a big hand in preserving the Valleyís natural heritage. Take the Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust (RiGHT), for instance.
