During my eight-year tenure as a Rio Grande commissioner, I had the opportunity to work with many other elected county officials on a regular basis. Some individuals were easy to work with, while others presented many challenges. The primary election this year will determine the outcome of two vital positions for the next few years.
For the first position, I would like to endorse Karla Shriver for Rio Grande commissioner. She has demonstrated the skills, knowledge and professional work ethic necessary to be an effective and vital productive commissioner. Karla definitely deserves a second term.
For the second position, I would like to recommend Stephen Hunzeker for Rio Grande County Coroner. He would give the office the professionalism that our community and impacted families deserve. In his profession, Stephen has demonstrated his understanding of the sensitive, confidential, compassionate, and proficient nature needed to be an excellent coroner. I am sure that he would work with fellow elected officials and the commissioners, and be timely with inventories, budgets, and invoices. Sound business practice benefits all. This was certainly not the case with the current coroner.
I strongly urge all Rio Grande County Republicans and Independents to vote for Karla and Stephen if you wish to have to qualifies, sound, professional leadership that Rio Grande deserves.
