Whatever it takes to get me safely home, whatever it takes to save the ones I love, whatever it takes to bring us so close to You nothing can get between us, that is what I pray for, Lord.
Thatís always a frightening prayer because when we pray it, we imagine all sorts of awful events coming into our lives to bring us closer to God. Unfortunately, that is often whatever it takes because we tend not to look up until weíre knocked down.
I remember Joni Eareckson Tada recalling she made that prayer as a teenager when her life was not in line with Godís will, and she wound up with a broken neck! So I was a bit hesitant to pray the same thing. Whatever it takes, Lord, but not a broken neck, not blindness, not losing someone I love, notÖ.
