Elfirio Romero, 91, a longtime resident of Mosca, CO and formerly of Holman, NM passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, CO.
He was born on May 21, 1922 in Chacon, NM to the late Ricardo Romero and Senaida Martinez.
He was united in marriage in Mora, NM on May 10, 1944 to Reynalda Campos.
He served in the United States Army from November 1942 to June 1943. He worked for the Railroad in Rawlins, WY. He then moved back to Holman to log and ranch and then on to Mosca continuing with farming and ranching.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Josie Martinez.
He is survived by his wife: Reynalda Romero of the family home in Mosca, CO; daughter: Betty Sandoval and husband Gilbert of Manuelitas, NM; son: Elfirio Romero of Mosca, CO; grandchildren: Amy Sandoval Dahl and husband Dan, Ted Sandoval and wife Louann all of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandchildren: Brandon Sandoval and Jordan Dahl; sisters: Mary Martinez and husband Lloyd of Albuquerque, NM and Alice Fauset of Michigan; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosary services will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 7:00 pm at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00 am also at St. Gertrude Church with Father Dennis Dolter, SOLT as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Chacon Cemetery in Chacon, NM with the following serving as Casket Bearers: Ted Sandoval, Brandon Sandoval, Dan Dahl, Manuel Montano, Jerry Martinez and Dick Martinez.
