Margaret Pauline (Jett) Michael, 90

Margaret Pauline (Jett) Michael, passed away April 27, 2013 Margaret was born August 5, 1922 in rural Patoka, Illinois to Viola (Scates) and Cecil Jett. She was the oldest of 10 children.

She was married to Herman Michael of Kell, Illinois on April 26, 1943. Herman preceded her in death in March 2012 at the age of 92.

She had five grandchildren: Regina, Shawn, Kristi, Brandi, and Emma; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Viola in 1967; her father, Cecil in 1982; her brother, Wayne in 1930; her brother, Carl Leslie in 1941, her sister, Wilma Irene in 1945, her brother, Loyde in 1981; her brother, Martin in 1982; and her brother Joseph in 2011. 

Margaret is survived by two sisters: Mary Greenawalt (Tom) of Dubuque, Iowa and Dorothy Anderson of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania; by one brother, Beryl Cecil Jett (Helen) of Salem, Illinois and by three sister-in-laws: Stella Jett (Martin) of Greer, South Carolina, Betty Jett (Joseph) of Sandoval, Illinois and Margaret Jett (Loyde) of South Bend, Indiana.

Margaret attended Eaglin Elementary and Patoka High School through the 11th grade and then attended the 12th grade in Salem, Illinois. She attended Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, Illinois, receiving her two-year teaching degree and taught in Kell, Illinois area. She gave up teaching after she married Herman Michael and moved to Mississippi where he worked.  She stayed home to raise her three children. After moving to Odessa, Texas then to Kermit, Texas she again worked getting her four-year teaching certificate while she had a pre-school/ kindergarten in her home for several years. After graduating she taught kindergarten at Seagraves Elementary School until the time she retired in 2001 and moved to Abilene, Texas.

 Margaret `s passion was teaching. Obtaining her degree and teaching kindergarten  was her one big goal in life, which she fulfilled in 1971 at age 49.

Due to health Issues Margaret & Herman moved to Denver, Colorado area to be near their daughter, Jennifer and son, Roger.

She will rest for eternity nest to her husband in Monte Vista: Close to her beloved cabin at Jasper, CO.

Services were held at Strohmayer`s Funeral Home 205 South Broadway Monte Vista, CO. on May 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Following services will be interment at the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
