Linda “Lou” Spencer

LINDSBORG, Kan. — Linda “Lou” Spencer, of Lindsborg, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013. She was born Jan. 20, 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Burr) Hayslett.

“Lou” attended Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in horticulture that she utilized as a florist for more than 40 years. She also worked as an LPN and gift shop owner.

She was united in marriage to James “Jim” Spencer on Jan. 16, 1976 in Longmont. “Lou” leaves behind many loved ones, including her husband, Jim, of Lindsborg, Kan.; daughters Susan (Anthony) Gibson, of Goddard, Kan., and Dawn (Jeff) Kurtz, of Lindsborg, Kan.; sister Susan Staley, of Ocala, Fla.; brother Bradley Hayslett, of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren Kyle, Jeremi, Krystin, Emily, Hannah, Savannah, Nathaniel (Luciana), Tyler and Jabon; and great-grandchildren Layken and Kynlea.

Visitation was Sunday, March 31, followed by a vigil at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, Kan. The funeral was Monday, April 1 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina, Kan.
