Alamosa resident Lozella Bertsch, 83, passed away in Alamosa on March 14, 2013.
She was born on June 12, 1929 in Fort Collins, Colorado, the daughter of Eldon and Vera Maxwell. She grew up in Pueblo and Colorado Springs. On September 14, 1948 she married Charles Bertsch in Raton, New Mexico. She was a past member of the Alamosa Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Navajo and Lake Powell, camping, dancing, cooking, crocheting and sewing. She had a deep love for music and was often caught humming a song.
Lozella is survived by her children Beverly (Dean) Boice, Eileen (Mike) Van Iwaarden and Keith Bertsch as well as her grandchildren, Linnea (Boice) Rosengarten, Jennifer (Dan) Liddell, Erin Boice (Evan Bardwell), Tasha Bertsch, Alan Van Iwaarden, Loreen VanIwaarden, Brandon Bertsch and Taylor Bertsch. Lozella is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kenneth, and grandsons, Casey Bertsch and Paul Boice.
Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2013 at The Bridge in Alamosa. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Alamosa Fire Department or to the Alamosa Elks Lodge and may be made in care of the funeral home.
