ALAMOSA — Mary Frances Butero, 75, passed away December 9, 2012 at San Luis Care Center in Alamosa, Colorado.
Mary was born in Trinidad, Colorado on September 1, 1937 to Frances Pearl Russ and Charles H. Healey who both preceded her in death.
She lived and worked on the family ranch in Gulnare in her early years. She graduated from Aguilar High School, Trinidad Jr. College, and eventually Adams State College in Alamosa all while raising a family and working part-time. She retired from Alamosa School district after teaching third grade for a number of years. The last ten years of her life were dedicated to the family ranch in Gulnare; Mary worked tirelessly trying to preserve her heritage. Her love for the outdoors and animals were unparalleled by her love for her family.
She is survived by: her children Paul James Butero of Alamosa, Colo., (Paula Slocomb of San Marcos Texas), and Robert (Darla) Butero of Bayfield, Colo.; grandchildren: Jamie Lee (Eric Saenz), Jason Todd, Lauren Ashley, and Cody Alan Butero; three great-grandchildren: Cire, Stone, and Avalon; brothers: Charles A. Healey(Rita Thompson), Buddy J. Healey, James G. Healey (Doris) all from Gulnare, Colo.
At her request cremation has taken place.
Memorial Services will be held Monday December 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Glidden officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery.
