GREELEY — Former Center and Saguache resident Barbara Louise Jordan Felix, 88, died October 5, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society Bonell Community in Greeley, Colorado. Barbara, a life-long resident of Colorado, was born March 17, 1924 in Salida, Colorado, the first of eight children born to John and Louisa (Garcia) Jordan.
Barbara attended Saguache High School and graduated in 1942. She married David Hooper Felix on June 9, 1948. Barbara and David were partners in every sense. Together they had two wonderful children, Michael Jordan Felix and Debra Dean Felix. During their 58 year long marriage, Barbara and David worked together on the Felix family farm in Center, owned and operated a motel in Steamboat Springs and again worked hand-in-hand at their liquor store in Brush.
Barbara had many interests including, embroidery, genealogy, antique restoration and together with David, gardening. She was a voracious reader and served many terms on the Library Board in Saguache. Barbara was a charter member of the Southern Chapter of Territorial Daughters of Colorado.
Barbara is survived by two sisters, Hope (Ralph) Peckumn of Del Norte and Joyce (Allen) Schmidt of Longmont, four grandsons, David and Bryan Roberts and Max and Sam Felix. She leaves behind four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, her son Michael and daughter Debra, her sister, Dorothy Gimlin, and brothers John Michael Jordan, Nathan Jordan, Edward Jordan, and Patrick Jordan.
A memorial service will be held for Barbara at 3 p.m., October 27th, 2012 at Hillside Cemetery in Saguache, Colorado, for the inurnment of her ashes. A reception will follow at the parish hall at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 505 Gunnison Street in Saguache.
