Joe V. “JoJo” Duran, 63

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Joe V. “JoJo” Duran, 63, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at his home.

A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of Center, Colorado Mr. Duran passed away following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Del Norte, Colorado on October 5, 1947, the son of Presentacion Jim Duran and Cleotilde Trujillo.

Mr. Duran married Tina Garcia in Center, Colorado on October 16, 1965.

He worked as a foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 20 years until his retirement in 2002.

Mr. Duran was a member of the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 and the Young at Heart Senior Center.

His interests include playing pool, building race cars and derby cars, hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Tina Duran of Rock Springs, Wyoming, three sons Delmer Duran and wife Vicky, Randy Duran and Don Martinez and wife Colleen all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two daughters Rene Duran and Stacy Hoffman both of Laramie; and four brothers Richard Duran and wife Julia of Center, Colorado, Marcilino Duran and wife Gloria of Pueblo, Colorado, Rudy Duran and wife Mena of Pueblo, Colorado and Daniel Duran and wife Della of Center, Colorado; five sisters Lillian Maldonado of Pueblo, Colorado, Frances Duran of Center, Colorado, Sandra Fernandez of Center, Colorado, Charlene Duran of Center, Colorado and Virginia Valles of Center, Colorado; nine grandchildren Joey Duran and companion Raychelle Zampedri, Anthony Duran and companion Teresa Duran, Cleotilde Duran, Laura Duran, Katherine Duran, Ryan Powers, Breanna Powers, Isiaih Martinez and Jacob Martinez; two great grandchildren Karter Duran and Hailey Duran and several aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Andrea; one brother Gilbert Duran and one sister Mercy Martinez.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Avenue, Rock Springs, Wyoming. A vigil service with rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the church.

Cremation followed. A luncheon followed services at the Rock Springs Community Center “Old Senior Citizens Center.”

Memorial Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Saint Francis Jerome Parrish, 781 Warden Street, Center, Colorado. Luncheon will follow at the church.
