CANON CITY — Jack Hemmert, 81, passed away at his home July 27, 2010 in Canon City, Colo. He was born on May 26, 1929 in Grinnell, Kan. to John and Katherine (Kruse) Hemmert. On May 24, 1948, Jack was united in marriage to Netha Eastman in St. Angelus, Kan.
Jack was a rancher/farmer all his life. He also worked as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. His favorite hobby was sculpting metal art.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Netha; daughter, Reneta “Jackie” Hemmert-Lewis; son, Rex (Chris) Hemmert; grandchildren, Shai Roberts (Chuck Moore), Rex J. Amicone, Jared J. (Mandy) Hemmert, and Colleen Hemmert; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Juanita and Winifred.
A Vigil Service will be at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canon City. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 also at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend Kevin Novack as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mountain Vale Memorial Park in Canon City.
