Norman Jean Draves, 67
ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa, Colo. resident Norma Jean Draves, 67, died March 13, 2010 at her home in Alamosa under Hospice care. Norma was born Sept. 27, 1942 in Kilgore, Texas to Elsie and Hazel Warrik. She married her husband and companion of more than 41 years, Leslie E. Draves on Aug. 23, 1968 in Alamosa.
Norma worked for many years at Valley Meat in Alamosa and later worked 25 years for the Alamosa and Monte Vista Co-op as an office manager until her retirement in 1997. She was an exceptional mother and loved kids. She enjoyed spending time with her family in the outdoors hunting, camping and fishing. She was very close to all her family.
Norma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as the secretary for several years with the city bowling team.
She is survived by her husband Les Draves of the family home in Alamosa; her children Janene (Dan) Davis of Bloomfield, N.M., James (Dana) Draves of Ball, La., and Randy (Teresa) Draves of El Salvador; her grandchildren Keith, Kevin, Shauna, Stephanie, Jared and Johnathan Draves, Miranda and Caleb Draves and David and Autumn as well as a great-grandchild Corey Davis.
Her parents and her brother Donald Warrick preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Fri., March 19, 2010 at the B.P.O.E. #1297 of Alamosa.
