Manuelita Gomez, 90



ALAMOSA — Alamosa, Colo. resident Manuelita Gomez, 90, passed away Feb. 8, 2010 at the San Luis Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Manuelita was born on Nov. 6, 1919, in Alamosa the daughter of Joe Romero and Virgenia Arguello Romero.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, dancing, fishing and gambling but most of all spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include daughters Helen (Ronnie) Bernal of Denver, Benita (David) Medina, Beverly (Ivan) Quintana both of Alamosa, Betty (Eugenio) Gonzales of Elsa, Texas and Gloria (Leonard) Sandoval of Monte Vista; sons Gene (Rose) Gomez of San Angelo, Texas, Johnny Gomez and Joey Trujillo both of Alamosa; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren; one sister Josephine Morales of San Angelo, Texas as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Manuelita was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ben Gomez, second husband Joe C. Trujillo, brothers Albert Romero and Augustine Romero and grandsons Albert Romero Jr. and Paul Bernal.

A vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa on Wed., Feb. 10, 2010 at 7 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thur., February 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa who is in care of arrangements.
