Phil Maestas, 77
SAN LUIS — San Luis, Colo. resident Phil Maestas, 77, passed away Nov. 27, 2009 at the San Luis Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born July 10, 1932 in San Pablo, Colo. the son of Juan Maestas and Evarista Martinez Maestas.
He was a Korean War veteran in the United States Air Force and a member of the V.F.W and American Legion Post 142. Phil enjoyed farming, traveling to California for the Christmas season and spending time with family.
Survivors include the mother of his children Gloria Maestas; daughters Diedre Maestas of San Luis and Debra (Jose) Santomauro of Ft. Worth, Texas; sons Adrian (Genevieve) Maestas of San Luis, son and daughter Richard Maestas of Denver, Karen (Chris) Bonnet of Colorado Springs: their mother Pricilla Kreiser of Pueblo; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Lydia (Orlando) Taylor of San Francisco, Colo., Lita (Leandro) Martinez of Pueblo, Rose Gallegos of Denver, Mercy Martinez of Denver and Liva Gonzales of Denver; four brothers Ralph (Genevieve) Maestas of San Pablo, Ruben (Frances) Maestas of Mancos, Colo., Paul Maestas of San Luis and Amos (Betty) Maestas of Denver as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Inacita Martinez, Dorothy Martinez and Maclovia Archuleta and two brothers Adam and Elizar.
A vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sat., Nov. 28, 2009 at 7 p.m. at Romero Chapel in San Luis, another rosary will be held Sun., Nov. 29, 2009 at the Sangre De Christo Church in San Luis at 7 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Mon., Nov. 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Sangre De Christo Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at Los Fuertes Cemetery in San Pablo with full military honors. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
