ALAMOSA — Everybody except the state will get money from the new marijuana tax the first year.
Because of the way marijuana was approved in Colorado, all of the first year’s tax proceeds will have to be refunded to Coloradoans through a one-time TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights) refund next year, Dr. Phyllis Resnick with the Colorado Futures Center explained during a presentation in Alamosa this week.
“We probably will have a one-year TABOR refund next year that is totally associated with the way we passed marijuana,” Resnick said.
