ALAMOSA — Ten out of the 11 Alamosa City Council candidates shared their views on a variety of subjects during a Candidates Forum on Monday night with little debate or difference of opinion.

Ward 4 candidate Michael Stefano was not present at the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, City of Alamosa and Valley Courier sponsored candidate forum.

Before the candidates answered questions from the audience, they were each provided three minutes to introduce themselves and give their opinion on the Polston property annexation, the city’s most controversial topic.

All the candidates who answered the opening question agreed the Polston annexation is appropriate if it meets the city’s requirements and is in the best interest of the city just like any other application for inclusion into the city limits.

They also encouraged the public to participate in the upcoming public hearings, which will assist the city council in making its final decision on the annexation.

In regards to the proposed Polston property land swap, the candidates agreed it is a separate issue that deserves separate attention and calls for more information before a decision is made.
