Another possible sex victim identified

Posted: Friday, Feb 8th, 2013

SOUTH FORK—Another possible victim may have been identified in a sexual exploitation case leading to the arrest of an Alamosa man.

As of Feb. 5, Sgt. Eric Gonzales with the Pueblo Police Department said the department was interviewing a possible second victim.

Pueblo police arrested Ian Robert Walker, 24, on Jan. 16 in Alamosa. Walker was allegedly corresponding with a 14-year-old Pueblo girl over the last two years through cell phones, seeking to exchange illicit photos and videos.

The case is under investigation and charges have not been filed, but may be pending. The child had attended a local camp several years ago where she met the young man, who at the time was working as a camp counselor.

Walker now lives in Alamosa where he is attending Adams State University. He was released on $50,000 bail. He had attended Beaver Creek Youth Camp, near South Fork, many times as a child, and eventually became a counselor there. Most recently, Walker had been commuting to Durango on weekends to lead music for the Saturday night service at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeff Huber contacted members informing them of the young man’s arrest.

Rev. Marvin Vose with the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church said Walker’s employment ended soon after the church learned of the allegations.

Vose said the church requires comprehensive background checks for all employees and works to provide training to all who are involved in working with young people.

Walker allegedly had been trying to get the young girl in La Plata County to send him pictures, but she did not do it, according to Pueblo investigator Tonya Golbricht, as printed in the Durango Herald.

Anyone having any information regarding the case is urged to contact Golbricht at 970-382-7019.
