ALAMOSA — Española, N.M. police arrested two Alamosa men earlier this week who fled the scene of a State Street stabbing that occurred last Saturday.
According to an Alamosa Police Department (APD) press release, officers responded to the 500 block of State Avenue on October 6 where a fight with weapons involved was underway. When the units arrived, they found two male victims with stab wounds that the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center would later categorize as serious bodily injury. The suspects, Joseph Earl Bailon, 34, and Robert Cody McGuire, 24, both of Alamosa, fled the scene on foot, eluding the local authorities.
Several days later, the Española Police Department contacted the suspects while investigating a local assault case, according to the press release. APD investigators traveled to Española, interviewed the suspects and, as a result, arrest warrants were issued and the men are now in custody across the state line.
Bailon is charged with first-degree felony assault, second degree felony assault and disorderly conduct and McGuire is charged with conspiracy to commit felony assault in the first degree and disorderly conduct.
Both stabbing victims were treated and released from the hospital.
