ALAMOSA — Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are investigating an apparent homicide that occurred early Thursday morning, August 9, in an apartment above the Extreme Graphics office by Vendola Plumbing & Heating in East Alamosa.

No names were yet being released as of Thursday night, but Alamosa County Sheriff Robert Jackson said one male was dead from an apparent gunshot wound and a female was flown out for treatment, also after apparently suffering gunshot injuries.

Neighbors reported the shooting early Thursday after finding the woman wandering around with gunshot wounds to her head or face, Sheriff Jackson said. He was notified about 7 a.m. on Thursday.

He said he did not yet know if there were suspects in the case.

The sheriff added that this address and the deceased victim were known to law enforcement who had suspected drug activity at this address and had been seeking a search warrant in connection with suspected drug activity.

Sheriff’s staff and CBI were still working on the crime scene Thursday evening.

Also on Thursday Alamosa County Search & Rescue teams retrieved a 47-year-old male climber who injured his shoulder while climbing in a crevice known as the hourglass on Little Bear next to Mount Blanca. Rescue teams encountered a hailstorm during their efforts to extricate the injured climber.
