Monte Vista third, Alamosa eighth at Salida tournament

ALAMOSA – Both the Alamosa and Monte Vista high school girls golf teams competed at the Salida Invitational Thursday at the Salida Golf Club.

The Lady Pirates finished third with 316 strokes and were led by Reagan Futrell who finished 12th with a 102, and Brooke Hoffstaetter who was 14th with a 104.

Also competing for the Lady Pirates were Ellaree Rockey who was 23rd with a 110, and Kiera Sanchez who was 25th with a 113.

The Lady Mean Moose took eighth place with 339. They were led by Paloma Zahringer who was 22nd with a 109. Khloe Spangler was 26th with a 114, and Kiara Gallegos and Miya Spangler tied for 30th with a 116.

Salida won the tournament with 266, well ahead of the runner-up, Canon City, with 308.

Salida’s Kyndra Johnson was the medalist with a one-over-par 73.

Monte Vista will next compete at the Pueblo Central Invitational on May 2. Both schools will be at the Pueblo County Invitational on May 3.
