Marie Angeline Medina, 80

Marie Angeline Medina passed away on November 18, 2017, at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, CO, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on February 6th, 1937 to Joe F. and Celia LeBlanc Gallegos. Marie grew up in Fort Garland, CO, a small loving community with many life-long friends and her special grandmother, Bertina LeBlanc. She met the love of her life at the ripe old age of 8 years old. Eugenio Medina was her brother’s best friend, but soon became her one true love. Marie and Eugenio married on March 28, 1954 in Fort Garland and four children were eventually added to this loving union. Marie’s family was her life. Her days revolved around her children, ten grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren and they will be her legacy. She had a special way of making each and every one of her family members feel special, as though they were the “favorite.” She spent many hours on bleachers watching school programs, sporting events and any other activity her family was involved in. She rarely missed an event. Marie loved to travel and was able to see much of the world. She never wanted to fly but after the first time, there was no stopping her. She flew to Europe several times, took cruises to any number of places and made pilgrimages to many locations as well. Marie’s faith was a big part of her life. A Roman Catholic, Marie loved to pray the rosary, participate in the mass and watching EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) was how she spent the little time that she was at home. Her last trip to Alabama, where she visited the location of EWTN, was one of the highlights of her travels. In addition to spending time with her family, Marie had many hobbies including gardening, cooking, and reading, but her favorite was organizing her pictures. Marie dedicated a bedroom in her house to her pictures and she would spend hours putting them in albums and frames, reminiscing about all of the precious memories she had created with family and friends.

Marie was a member of the Nuestro Padre de Jesus Nazareno Morada in Fort Garland as well as the Sacred Heart Society of Fort Garland, CO.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Eugenio Medina of Fort Garland, children, Ronald Medina, Debbie Pettigrew (Gary), both of Fort Garland, Leona Trujillo (Mark Deloreto), of Arvada, CO, and Elona Medina (Paul Lopez), of Alamosa CO, special nephew Ken Gallegos, of Denver, CO, grandchildren, Larissa Pettigrew, Lucas Pettigrew (Mandi), Stephanie Medina (Clay Kreps), Milo Medina (Deslie), Angelo Trujillo, Marcus Trujillo, Kristyn Trujillo, Amanda Hensley (Josh), Alicia Head, and Aidan Campbell, great-grandchildren, Chase, Deja and Garrick Pettigrew, Danee Cowles, Darin Lucero, Bailee Medina, JR and Kenzie Medina, Gizelle and Mila Espinoza, and Connor Hensley.
