DEL NORTE – Emely Gurrola scored all of the goals for the Del Norte High School girls soccer team, however, it wasn’t enough as the Lady Tigers lost to Ignacio 8-3 Thursday at the Del Norte stadium.

Darlyn Mendoza-Lechuga scored all of the Lady Bobcats’ goals.

Gurrola staked Del Norte to the early lead as she took a pass from Tessa Vita and put the ball into the back of the net in the game’s ninth minute.

Mendoza-Lechuga tied the score five minites later on an assist by Lainee Bradley. The Lady Bobcats took the lead three minutes later on a penalty kick by Mendoza-Lechuga.

Mendoza-Lechuga then scored two unassisted goals in the 27th and 31st minute. She then scored on another penalty kick in the 33rd minute to give Ignacio a 5-1 lead at halftime.

Gurrola scored twice early in the second half to bring the Lady Tigers back into the game, tallying goals in the 48th and 50th minutes. Emma Parra assisted on both goals.

Mendoza-Lechuga scored in the 71st minute off an assist by Maliyah Martinez, and she added an unassisted goal in the 76th minute. She wrapped up the scoring a minute later with Marlene Martinez-Perez getting the assist.

Ignacio had 20 shots on goal compared to 12 for the Lady Tigers.

Peytin Neal had 12 saves for the Lady Tigers.

Del Norte (0-5, 0-2) will travel to Colorado Springs on Saturday to face Banning Lewis Academy. The opening kickoff is at noon.
