Monte Vista resident Juanita Linda Martinez, 45, passed away September 23, 2017. Juanita was welcomed into the world on December 7, 1971, the beloved daughter of Jim Montoya and Priscilla Martinez. Juanita was an exceptional and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed being a social butterfly interacting with people and helping anyone in need. She liked going camping, fishing, gardening and reading books. Juanita was an avid Denver Broncos fan and her true joy in life was the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband Antonio Muniz of Capulin, CO; mother Priscilla Medina of Monte Vista, CO; father Jim Montoya of Monte Vista, CO; daughter Ashley (Phillip) Gutierrez of Monte Vista, CO; son Sidney Gutierrez of Monte Vista, CO; grandchildren Joziah Garcia, Ozzy Gutierrez, Dorothy Gutierrez, Adriana Archuleta all of Monte Vista, CO; sisters Priscilla (Horace) Lobato of Alamosa, CO; Michelle (Mark) Cordova, Cecilia Medina both of Pueblo, CO; Rose (Robert) Salazar and Angela Medina both of Monte Vista, CO; brothers Nabor Medina of Las Cruces, NM; Russell Medina of Monte Vista, CO. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Juanita was preceded in death by her son Ozzy Randel Gutierrez and her maternal grandparents Bernice and Jose Martinez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
