CONEJOS COUNTY — A Denver resident died Sunday afternoon after his vehicle rolled off the highway west of Antonito.

On August 20, at 12:15 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a one vehicle rollover crash on Colorado Highway 17 about 20 miles west of Antonito.

Investigation at the scene revealed a 2005 Totota Tundra pickup was westbound on Colorado Highway 17. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the highway at a high rate of speed, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The vehicle rotated counter clockwise and rolled 2 1/2 times coming to rest on its top.  

The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was indentifed as Bruce W. Jones, 56, from Denver.  

Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. Seatbelts were not in use.  Speed is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
